Production Cowboy #634
The Production Cowboys are a fine example of an “all around knife" or an “EDC” (every day carry)
The Cowboy model, designed by Nick, is specifically formulated to be easy to carry and use.
Made from 1084 steel, with a 3-1/4” blade, this knife will cut string, slice an apple, open boxes, etc, but also boasts a larger belly which makes it convenient for skinning game and preparation of food while camping or other outdoor activities.
At 7-3/4” though, this knife is not cumbersome to carry on your belt in public settings.
(Be sure to always check local laws concerning your location and it’s specific regulations)
This particular model of the Production Cowboy is made with a Padauk handle.
Padauk has a very unique reddish orange coloration, and the wood is sometimes referred to by the name vermillion. It’s moderately heavy, strong, and stiff, with exceptional stability. Padauk is a popular hardwood among hobbyist woodworkers because of its unique color and relatively low cost. It also occupies a sweet spot in density where it’s sufficiently hard and dense for higher-wear applications, yet not so dense as to be excessively difficult to work.
This wood species has a number of variant spellings and pronunciations, with a few being predominant. Padauk is the most common spelling, followed by padouk, paduk, and paduak. The most common pronunciation is pah-DUKE
